All SHBT students receive full tuition and stipend support, as outlined in their financial aid offer, while they are enrolled and making satisfactory progress toward the Ph.D. degree. In addition, SHBT students are eligible for several benefits through the Harvard Kenneth C. Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and HMS Office for Graduate Education PhD Programs. Please visit the [HMS OGE PhD Programs Financial Support page](https://ogephd.hms.harvard.edu/financial-support) for a summary of the many resources that are available to SHBT graduate students.

The SHBT program is funded in part by a training grant (#T32 DC000038, "Training for Speech and Hearing Sciences") from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Most SHBT students (excluding international students) are supported through this training grant for the first two years of the program. After the first two years, students are encouraged to apply for fellowships. In the past SHBT students have successfully applied for the NIH F31 predoctoral fellowship or the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, amongst others. Students also receive a modest yearly travel stipend from the Office for Graduate Education, which allows for conference attendance.

## **Fellowship and Grant Opportunities**

Fellowships that students have been successful in procuring are marked with an asterisk (**\***). If you would like to contact an SHBT student about any of these opportunities, please write to the SHBT program administrator at [SHBT\_Program@hms.harvard.edu](mailto:///SHBT_Program@hms.harvard.edu).
