Individual Development Plan (IDP)

Academic Advisors are expected to discuss the student IDP once a year before the student selects a Dissertation Advisor. A six-month checkup can be scheduled if the student wishes to do so. Students are requested to report the completion of this discussion each year. A new IDP form is now available. An IDP is a resource generated by the student to help guide their career development. The IDP provides a shared point of reference for conversations between the student and the academic advisor to help them identify strengths and weaknesses along with short- and long-term goals, academic and personal. This discussion is confidential and for the benefit of the student. Once a student has selected a Dissertation Advisor, they may choose to discuss their IDP with their Dissertation Advisor rather than their Academic Advisor.
